About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Management Center (TMC) System Operator I for their client’s Hauppauge, NY office. The TMC System Operator I is expected to have detailed familiarity with Long Island's roadways, understand communications protocols, and be knowledgeable about the location and purpose of all ITS elements. Candidates must be capable of independently following procedures and direction with minimal oversight and supervision. This position operates from 5am-1pm.

Requirements

A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Must be willing to work all shifts including weekends, overnights and holidays
Proficient with various computer/software systems - including MS Office, GIS and web-based information systems
Must have an aptitude for providing exceptional customer service
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Applicants must be able to pass a background/criminal history check

Responsibilities

Operate the TMC’s advanced traffic management system (ATMS)
Monitor radios/police scanners, CCTV displays, and system map for incidents
Monitor computerized traffic signal and ramp metering activities
Dispatch traffic signals malfunctions and highway maintenance calls to appropriate personnel or jurisdictions
Perform record keeping tasks, keyboard entries and generate daily reports
Monitor and update all variable message signs including dial-up portable signs
