About The Position

The Maintenance & Transportation Worker is responsible for supporting the daily operational needs of the clinic through facility maintenance, equipment upkeep, and transportation services. This role requires a high level of independence, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to travel long distances to rural locations safely and independently. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, functional, and compliant healthcare environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR Certified
  • Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, or related experience preferred. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • No major violations within the last five (5) years
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA standards and workplace safety practices.
  • Human relation skills to deal effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to always maintain a pleasant attitude and appearance.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned projects in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate awareness, sensitivity and appreciation of Native American culture, traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs.
  • Ability to be prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
  • Ability to provide an updated proof of insurance form to the organization annually.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Policy on a continuous basis.
  • Knowledge of general vehicle and grounds keeping equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of general facility maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and productively.
  • Knowledge of word processing and basic computer skills
  • Must be able to maintain a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine facility maintenance and repairs, including minor plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, and carpentry work.
  • Assemble, install, and move office and medical furniture (desks, exam tables, shelving, cabinets, etc.).
  • Hang wall-mounted items such as whiteboards, televisions, artwork, signage, shelving, and safety equipment.
  • Perform interior and exterior painting and touch-up work as needed.
  • Repair doors, locks, door hardware, and basic structural components.
  • Conduct routine inspections of clinic facilities and report safety concerns.
  • Operate maintenance tools and power equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance of HVAC systems, generators, and other building systems (as trained).
  • Maintain grounds as needed, including debris removal and basic landscaping support.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related emergencies, including water leaks, spills, and safety hazards.
  • Clean and disinfect biohazard materials, including bodily fluids such as patient vomit or spills, in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and submit requests for replenishment.
  • Assist with clinic remodels, room reconfigurations, and equipment installations.
  • Safely transport patients to and from clinic appointments, including pickups from rural and remote areas.
  • Travel long distances independently, often to isolated locations, while maintaining safety and professionalism.
  • Provide courteous, respectful, and supportive interactions with patients during transport.
  • Assist patients in and out of vehicles as needed, while following safety and mobility protocols.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, sanitary, and ready for patient transport always.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations during all patient interactions.
  • Conduct pharmacy medication runs as needed to support patient care and clinic operations.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections (fuel levels, tire pressure, cleanliness, maintenance needs) and report concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate mileage logs and transport documentation.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and organizational policies.
  • May be required to provide emergency assistance to agency vehicles as needed.
  • Periodically tests all emergency systems.
  • Provides back-up to Nutrition Coordinator to transport participants of Senior Nutrition Program, as outlined in organization’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains a current CPR certificate.
  • Attends all trainings and meetings as required.
  • Performs maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Act as a part of the facility’s safety/emergency response team as assigned by the Safety Officer.
  • Assist with a variety of duties to meet the needs of the department on an as needed basis.
  • Operate larger equipment or vehicles as needed and as trained.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and special projects.
  • Support emergency preparedness efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
