Role description: Arcadis is looking for Traffic and Transportation Engineering Intern to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. In this position, you will assist our growing traffic and ITS group in conducting traffic studies, utilizing data to identify operational and safety needs, preparing plans, and CAV corridor planning. You will have the opportunity to work alongside project managers and senior engineers to gain a better understanding of the transportation industry and to further develop their technical skills. Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together. The role sits within our global business area Mobility. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods

Requirements

  • Seeking a degree in civil or transportation engineering
  • familiarity with CAD, PDF markup tools (e.g. Bluebeam), or basic networking and communications system concepts

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in engineering consulting or DOT

Responsibilities

  • Support design and documentation tasks for ITS and transit technology projects, including preparing engineering figures, markups, and technical specifications
  • Assist with reviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings against project requirements
  • Help develop and organize technical deliverables such as requirements matrices, design narratives, and progress reports
  • Research engineering standards, transit agency criteria, and emerging transportation technologies to support active projects
  • Use data and mapping tools to support project coordination and systems analysis
  • Assist senior engineers and project managers with day-to-day coordination across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Gain exposure to real-world public infrastructure delivery, working alongside transit agencies, DOTs, and partner firms
  • Contribute to smart mobility initiatives spanning Bus Rapid Transit, communications systems, and ITS planning
