About The Position

The Transportation Information Management Systems (TIMS) Coordinator provides technical and operational support for the district’s transportation routing and information systems. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate routing data, coordinating bus assignments, supporting daily transportation operations, and ensuring compliance with reporting and recordkeeping requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in data entry, keyboarding, computer applications, or office systems required
  • Proficiency in standard office software and database systems
  • Strong organizational, data management, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with routing software, student information systems, or transportation management systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update transportation routing information in the TIMS system
  • Maintain transportation spreadsheet with updated information for parents and schools
  • Ensure accuracy of student transportation data, bus stops, route assignments, and special needs routing
  • Generate and distribute route sheets and reports for drivers and school personnel
  • Review and verify data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with district procedures
  • Maintain computerized transportation records and prepare required operational reports
  • Assign buses to substitute drivers as directed
  • Maintain a daily log of substitute driver assignments
  • Maintain a daily log of bus operations, including breakdowns and communications with schools, parents, law enforcement, and administration
  • Inform schools of bus assignment changes on a daily basis
  • Maintain detailed route sheets for special needs and other designated student groups
  • Assist with coordinating activity bus usage, scheduling, and related documentation
  • Assist with coordinating after-school transportation services
  • Drive a school bus if necessary
  • Assist with documentation related to driver physicals, drug testing coordination, and required postings
  • Maintain records in accordance with state and federal transportation requirements
  • Collect and prepare data for audits, reports, and compliance monitoring
  • Serve as a point of contact between the Transportation Department and schools regarding routing and assignment information
  • Make general announcements to drivers and transportation staff as directed
  • Assist with answering office phones and responding to inquiries
  • Respond appropriately to questions or concerns from staff and the public
  • Monitor communication systems as assigned to support daily transportation operations
  • Assist with student transportation in emergency situations when required
  • Adapt to changing transportation needs and operational demands
  • Operate standard office, word processing, data base and spreadsheets, and data processing equipment
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Prepare, read, and comprehend forms, reports, maps, spreadsheets, records, and correspondence
  • Apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Respond appropriately to inquiries or complaints
  • Work effectively under stress and in emergency situations
  • Operate a motor vehicle
  • Be able to obtain CDL to drive a school bus
  • Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
