About The Position

In the Asphalt Lab Testing unit at the Office of Materials and Research, assists with laboratory testing on samples of various types of asphalt mixtures. Ensure materials meet applicable SCDOT, AASHTO, and ASTM specifications. Documents test results and perform necessary tasks in ProjectWise and AASHTOWare software. Performs calibrations, verifications, and maintenance on asphalt testing equipment to comply with the AASHTO Accreditation Program. Assists with maintaining unit accreditation records. Assists with testing of proficiency samples for the AASHTO Accreditation Program. Assists with preparing and maintaining records and reports for the unit. Performs various administrative tasks to ensure proper documentation of testing. Assists the unit with tasks as needed related to mix design submittals, QPLs, and accreditation. Assists with the proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with SCDES regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
