About The Position

The Transportation Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous non-emergency transportation services for Eastern Plumas Health Care patients and residents. This role supports access to medical appointments, hospital outpatient services, and approved non-medical SNF outings while maintaining safety, professionalism, and patient dignity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete required hospital and transportation-related training within designated timeframes, including but not limited to safety, infection control, and patient privacy
  • Enrollment in California DMV Employer Pull Notice Program required.
  • Successful completion of background screening in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Completion of defensive driving and passenger assistance training within designated timeframe.
  • Must meet all insurance eligibility requirements for hospital vehicle operation.
  • Safe and defensive driving skills.
  • Ability to assist patients with limited mobility, including wheelchairs and assistive devices.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Clear verbal communication and ability to follow instructions.
  • Attention to detail for documentation and safety checks.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
  • Basic computer or electronic documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to scheduled routes.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience transporting patients, older adults, or individuals with mobility limitations preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, transportation, customer service, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, hospital outpatient services, and approved non-medical outings.
  • Follow assigned schedules and routes as coordinated by the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Assist patients with safe entry and exit from vehicles, including use of wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices.
  • Properly secure passengers and mobility equipment using approved restraint systems.
  • Operate hospital-owned vehicles safely and in accordance with hospital policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report concerns.
  • Monitor patient safety and comfort during transport and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Accurately complete required trip logs, inspection documentation, and related records.
  • Communicate clearly with the dispatcher regarding delays, schedule changes, or service issues.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and disinfect high-touch surfaces between transports as required.
  • Ensure vehicles are stocked with required safety, emergency, and cleaning supplies.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs, damage, or equipment issues promptly.
  • Provide courteous, patient-centered service to elderly, disabled, and mobility-impaired individuals.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned
