About The Position

The Dover Public Schools located in Morris County, NJ, a K-12 grade school district serving approximately 3,600 students, is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual for the anticipated full-time position of Transportation Dispatcher. This position shall assist in supervising the District's transportation department with a focus on routing, scheduling, as well as to serving as a school bus driver, as needed. ANTICIPATED TRANSPORTATION DISPATCHER DISTRICT 2025-2026

Requirements

• High school diploma required; Associates Degree preferred
• Possess at least 3-5 years prior experience in school transportation, required
• Possess Valid Commercial New Jersey's Driver's License with Class B, School Bus and air brake endorsements
• Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing school bus construction, maintenance, and pupil transportation
• Experience with Transfinder bus routing system
• Practical knowledge of school bus driver's duties, ability to interact with drivers, district staff, and parents in a positive and a professional manner

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily operations of the pupil transportation system as it relates to day-to-day routes, field trips and athletic trips.
• Provide driver coverage for daily requirements.
• Assist with recording and scheduling Athletic and Co-Curricular field trips.
• Assist with communication to parents and staff about any transportation concerns.
• Assist the Transportation Supervisor with the development of bus routes and schedules for in-district routes using Transfinder.
• Assist in maintaining all district-owned transportation vehicles and develop plans for preventative maintenance.
• Assist in enduring effective communication among vendor personnel, the Transportation Office, schools and families with respect to daily transportation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor and/or designee.
