About The Position

Provides unified leadership for all transportation functions, including student routing, dispatching, fleet maintenance, and staff supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Team Leadership and Supervision Provides leadership for all aspects of staff supervision including selection of new team members, performance evaluations and employee discipline. Direct and lead all transportation staff, including the Routing Specialist, Dispatcher, Bus Drivers, Bus Attendants and Mechanics. Coordinate and oversee training for drivers and assistants to ensure they maintain required licensing and certifications. Promote and maintain professional working relationships with both staff and external vendors. Provide unified leadership for all transportation functions to ensure a cohesive department. Fleet & Operations Management Oversee the mechanical shop to ensure the school bus fleet and district vehicles are maintained for safe and efficient operations. Manage student transportation routing and dispatching to ensure safe and timely arrival for all daily routes. Maintain rigorous vehicle safety inspection schedules and all associated documentation. Apply mathematical concepts, such as fractions and percentages, to manage technical data and fleet logistics. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure all transportation operations comply strictly with DOT regulations and state requirements. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of State and Federal Rules regarding student transportation and the rights of students with disabilities. Maintain detailed knowledge of district roadways and emergency facilities to ensure student safety. Ability to handle data input. Administrative & Strategic Planning Utilize analytical thinking and planning ahead to solve practical problems with limited standardization. Develop technical writing for reports and correspondence to communicate department needs effectively. Present information clearly and effectively to families/guardians and district stakeholders. Uphold the district's mission of excellence while performing as a member of the "Phoenix #1 family." Auxiliary Responsibilities Maintains operational flexibility to address emerging needs and performs other related professional duties as assigned to ensure uninterrupted District services and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience as a certified school bus driver
  • Supervisory or personnel management experience
  • Valid class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
  • DPS Classroom and Behind the Wheel Trainer certificates
  • This position requires a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
