About The Position

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a Transportation Clerk to partner with our experienced warehouse team in this environmentally focused industry. A Transportation Clerk at Smith and Loveless takes on various responsibilities related to warehouse and transport operations. They assist with data entry and analysis, helping to optimize transportation cost, identify open work orders to close, and track performance of carriers. Work on maintaining appropriate transportation times, and coordinate with carriers. Additionally, they will identify opportunities for process enhancements and conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses. They will work directly with the Transportation Manager to complete tasks and make freight ship ready on Kinetic system.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years in a manufacturing warehouse environment.
• 1-3 years data entry experience.
• Previous experience working with ERP systems.
• Must possess advanced interpersonal skills, high learning agility and analytical and decision-making skills.
• Must be organized and motivated to meet deadlines, detail oriented, and accurate.
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications, spreadsheet computer programs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Kinetic ERP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep track of project folders, record costs, identify freight budget
• Assist Transportation Manager on entry of LTL and specialty parcel freight
• Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely pickup and delivery.
• Ensure all necessary work orders operations are issued correctly in Kinetic.
• Maintain weekly dispatch report on freight costs
• Second party check freight costs recorded by UPS desk clerk
• Maintain accurate records using our inventory management system.
• Learn auxiliary duties of warehouse clerk to serve as back up
• Learn auxiliary duties of inventory issuance and management
• Assist in developing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with production and logistics teams to optimize workflow.
• Analyze supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Participate in team meetings to improve supply chain processes.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Keep work area neat and clean.
