About The Position

Performs basic to intermediate design work and calculations. Performs field work; uses automated systems. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Requirements

High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Transport Engineer Tech I: No experience required.
Transport Engineer Tech II: 2 YEARS Drafting, design, plan preparation (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Some knowledge of Intermediate design and hand and computer-aided drafting procedures
Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities
Higher mathematics
Proficient skill in Performing basic design and drafting
Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
Ability to Follow verbal and written instructions
Considerable knowledge of Advanced and specialized design/drafting procedures
Interactive graphic and design information systems
Proficient skill in Performing intermediate drafting

Responsibilities

Performs basic design work
Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps
Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.
Works on reproduction of plans
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features
Performs intermediate design work
Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.
Schedules, coordinates and prepares documents
