Transportation Maintenance Coordinator – Transport Coordinator Oregon Department of Transportation Delivery & Operations Division – Maintenance & Operations Branch Supply Operations / Transport Services Team Salem The role: Join our team as a transport coordinator in Salem! In this role you will schedule and dispatch equipment, materials, and under bridge inspection trucks (UBIT) statewide to assist our crews with safe and efficient transport operations. You will support our mission by ensuring maintenance teams have the equipment they need to keep Oregon’s transportation system safe and reliable. A day in the life: Act as liaison to customers, both inside and outside ODOT to determine and recommend the most effective and efficient manner to complete requested transport movement. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email). Dispatch and coordinate freight and equipment transport assignments for Transport Services crew members. Coordinate scheduled deliveries with other ODOT district transport throughout the state. Coordinate and schedule under bridge inspection trucks (UBIT) for efficient operation and best use of vehicles and staff. Maintain records of transported materials and equipment, vehicle shift use and mileage, and maintenance schedules Maintain daily labor and billing, inspection reports and work logs for crew. Maintain working knowledge of all federal, state, county and city regulations and laws involved with the transporting of cargo and equipment. Operate and transport under bridge inspection trucks (UBIT). Operate a wide variety of heavy duty (primarily diesel-powered), long-haul transportation equipment, such as semi tractor/trailer combinations throughout the state. Participate in and oversee loading and unloading of transported commodities utilizing specialized equipment such as forklifts, auger trucks, cranes, bridge trucks, etc., and secure those commodities for safe movement. This position is required to work in all types of weather and road conditions. Statewide and overnight travel is required. Required to lift up to 65 pounds and spend long hours driving, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders, reaching and carrying. Requirements

  • Three years of maintenance or construction experience in roadway, highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge, or landscape.
  • CDL-A Required: Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions to be considered eligible for this position. You must also have or be able to obtain a tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.
