The Donor Allocation Transplant Coordinator has responsibility for taking organ call for the transplant programs. This call includes all aspects of call-related duties assigned including reviewing deceased donor organ offers when organs become available to transplant candidates for all organs, triaging patient calls for the transplant programs and other duties as may be assigned by transplant leadership. The Donor Allocation Transplant Coordinator facilitates acceptance or refusal of donor organs for transplant and coordinates the organ recovery with the transplant surgeons, Organ and Tissue Donation Team, Histocompatibility lab, Inpatient Units, Operating room and communicates effectively and sensitively with patients receiving the organs. The Donor Allocation Transplant Coordinator must be able to spend the majority of his/her time executing complex logistical support pertaining to all aspects of organ recovery and placement. The coordinator provides 24/7 coverage on a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. The Donor Allocation Transplant Coordinator is a home-based position that may require on campus meetings and trainings.
