About The Position

This position leads and manages project managers and other professionals responsible for transmission line and substation projects. Provides leadership and strategic direction overseeing the successful execution of transmission line and substation projects from scoping to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Ten years of directly related work experience, including four or more years managing projects (including managing scope, schedule, and budget).
  • A degree(s) in a relevant field may substitute for certain years of experience.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to staff managing substation and transmission line projects.
  • Coordinates project planning, execution, and reporting activities for a portfolio of projects.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, resources, and risk assessments, ensuring successful execution of projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, project coordinators, and inspectors.
  • Responsible for managing project budgets and tracking expenditures, while proactively ensuring adequate cost controls.
  • Develop tools to track the status of projects from beginning to end.
  • Develop and maintain realistic project schedules, monitor and report on progress, and implement corrective actions for on-time project completion.
  • Develops new procedures as necessary to ensure successful implementation of project programs.
  • Manage contracts with vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure compliance with provided specifications and expectations.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and support to the transmission and substation project teams with thorough understanding of engineering and construction competencies.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure projects meet or exceed established standards and specifications.
  • Effectively allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials to optimize project execution and efficiency.
  • Monitor project performance against key metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to improve project outcomes.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to management.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with budgeting process for capital improvement projects by scheduling projects and forecasting spend.
  • Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with management.
  • Discuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and work to resolve problems.
  • Teach and instruct employees in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be provided.
  • Evaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action.
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, hires and other disciplinary action.
  • Maintain the security of confidential information.
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology.
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • $133,600.00 Minimum Starting Base Pay + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits.
