This position offers the opportunity to directly apply knowledge of transmission line engineering, including conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles. The role involves designing transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range, performing structural analysis and design of various pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures, and conducting foundation designs. Key responsibilities also include performing conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies. The engineer will develop cost estimates and schedules, prepare specifications for material procurement and construction, and specify transmission line components. Modeling transmission lines in PLS-CADD to determine right-of-way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop plan and profile drawings are also part of the role, along with reviewing vendor submittals. The position encourages the use of modern tools like automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs, with an expectation for engineers to build or use automation for calculations, document summarization, or drafting design documentation, including agentic AI tools, while applying strong engineering judgment and verification.
