About The Position

GAI is seeking an Engineer 2 (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Austin, TX. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. We value work-life balance and offer flexibility – this position can be performed in a hybrid or fully remote capacity. #Remote, #Transmission Line, #INDHP The Engineer 2 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI’s Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil, or Electrical engineering.
  • PE License required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
  • 6+ years of experience in transmission line design.
  • Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD Tools.

Responsibilities

  • Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include: Preparation of Specification Packages Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower is a bonus Design and Analysis of foundations. Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications. Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
  • Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
  • Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.
