As a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative, we provide electricity to 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives and one municipally owned electric system serving eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to prioritize tasks, collaborate with team members, and build strong working relationships
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and computer technology

Nice To Haves

  • Some direct utility or general engineering experience is a plus but not required
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer, or the ability to obtain one within four years, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help with the design and engineering tasks for our transmission projects, working closely with seasoned engineers and teaming up with both our staff and outside consultants.
  • Develop project scopes, designs, drawings, and specs following East River's standards, and you'll review engineering work to keep everything on track.
  • Support our construction efforts, help with choosing the right equipment and materials, and make sure deadlines are met.
  • Gather and organize technical documents, charts, maps, and specs for our maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Help keep our systems like GIS and Asset Management up to date.
  • Learn new tools and bring creative solutions to the team, all while working in a supportive, collaborative environment.
