About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Denver, Colorado (CO) office is seeking a Transmission Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team! Responsibilities Design of Power Delivery Infrastructure systems, including transmission lines, distribution lines, and substations Perform structural analysis and design of monopole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures Participate in project teams in an active production role Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients Preparation of conceptual and detailed calculations to support the creation of construction documents and specifications. These calculations may include foundation design, material quantities, and design of overhead power structures. Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines Coordination and verification of as-built drawings Perform quality work that promotes client retention Responsible for the development of reports and design documents Expected to assist in mentoring, training, and growing a team to expand our Power Delivery practice This is an in-person role

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in any of the following: transmissions, distributions, or communication line design
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE, and ANSI Standards
  • Willingness to travel to support site visits and client meetings, as needed
  • Ability to work in a team; both collaborating with and mentoring junior staff

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utility Service (RUS) Electrical Bulletins, ASCE-7, or California General Order 95, and other ASCE/IEEE/CIGRE standards
  • Transmission Line Modeling (PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole) experience
  • Experience with lattice towers is a plus
