About The Position

Transload Operator / Rail Yard Laborer Montgomery, AL Pay: $17.00 per hour Schedule: Monday–Friday Day Shift with occasional weekends Location: Montgomery, Alabama Road & Rail Services is hiring a Transload Operator for our Montgomery rail terminal. This position supports railcar loading and unloading operations by transferring liquid products between rail tank cars and tanker trucks. What You'll Do As a Transload Operator, you'll help safely transfer products between railcars and trucks using pumps, hoses, and valves. You'll work as part of a team to keep freight moving while following strict safety standards. Typical responsibilities include: Loading and unloading liquid products between rail tank cars and tanker trucks Connecting and operating pumps, hoses, and valves used in transfers Climbing railcars and working from platforms to access equipment Monitoring transfers to ensure safe and accurate product movement Inspecting hoses, valves, and railcars for leaks or mechanical issues Completing required transfer logs and safety documentation Communicating with truck drivers and supervisors to coordinate operations This position involves physical work outdoors and may include climbing, lifting, and working in varying weather conditions. What We're Looking For We're looking for dependable individuals who want steady work and are willing to learn Basic qualifications include: High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Ability to lift up to 60 pounds Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Comfortable climbing ladders and railcars Industrial labor, construction, warehouse, or mechanical experience is helpful but not required.
