About The Position

The Transportation Specialist/Data Assistant (TS/DA) plays a key role in supporting the RISE Transitional Services team by providing reliable transportation for participants returning to the community and ensuring timely, accurate data entry and administrative coordination. Under the supervision of the Community Operations Supervisor, the TS/DA conducts participant pickups from NYC Department of Correction (NYDOC) and NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYDOCCS) facilities, escorts participants safely to The Fortune Society or other designated community-based organizations and ensures all transportation and service records are accurately maintained. When not performing transportation duties, the TS/DA supports pre-release data entry processes, including entering service plans into CaseWorthy, updating trackers, and maintaining organized documentation. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to Fortune’s mission of promoting successful community reentry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs, including early morning or occasional weekend assignments.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, and sound judgment in dynamic environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing services to individuals involved in the criminal legal system is strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct participant transport and pickups from NYCDOC or NYSDOCCS facilities to Fortune’s community office(s) or partner organizations.
  • Coordinate with DOC staff to obtain required Gate 1 passes, ensure safe participant release, and complete all required documentation.
  • Ensure participants are informed about Fortune’s services and supported with necessary resources and referrals during and after transport.
  • Schedule and track all pickups using Fortune’s Outlook calendar and Transport Hold Tracker; attach relevant documentation (e.g., RIDE forms, DOC notifications).
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, update participant status in CaseWorthy, and submit all related reports promptly.
  • Provide administrative support by collecting, reviewing, and entering pre-release service plans into CaseWorthy and other data systems.
  • Create or update participant profiles, service enrollments, and assessments in CaseWorthy according to established program protocols.
  • Upload scanned documents and maintain organized electronic and physical records of participant files.
  • Conduct monthly file reviews and assist with discharges by verifying client statuses and ensuring closure documentation is complete.
  • Assist with the weekly upload of the DOC In-Custody List to CaseWorthy, ensuring data accuracy and system synchronization.
  • Support program logistics and interdepartmental errands, such as delivering documents or materials to stakeholders, as assigned.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless participant support.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and Fortune’s standards of service always.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
