About The Position

Under the assigned supervisor, the Transitional Living Program Supervisor is responsible for the daily management of a TLP living environment; this living environment promotes the learning of skills for emotional, mental, and physical health; primary responsibilities include providing a healthy, safe, clinical and structured environment, as specified in each youth’s Individual Treatment Plan and the OHU Transitional Living Program Plan

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in related and/or approved field and eligible for MHP status OR (see experience)
  • 5 years residential or other approved mental health experience required (in absence of BA/BS degree)
  • MHP eligible
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance
  • DCFS background check & approval to transport youth
  • Must be physically able to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) restraint training
  • Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary
  • Highly organized, yet flexible, and can handle multiple priorities/projects well; ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communications skills (verbal, written, documentation, listening)
  • Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality
  • Patience, positive attitude and willingness to develop greater skills and understanding of youth with behavior disorders and/or mental health issues
  • Willingness to engage with youth in social and recreational activities, as well as act in a surrogate parent role including assisting with homework, chores, attending appointments, school activities and events and any DCFS related expectations
  • Ability to supervise a diverse population of youth care staff
  • Ability to accept direction and modify interactions with youth at direction of supervisory and clinical team

Responsibilities

  • Provides care and treatment to youth that is strength based, trauma informed and person centered.
  • Supervises a team of youth care workers and career/job coach as they perform duties associated with the day-to-day training, modeling, and skill-building of youth assigned
  • Supervises a team of youth care workers and career/job coach as they teach and participate in individual and group instruction in daily living, recreational activities, social skills, independent living skills and career/job coaching as prescribed by each youth’s Individual Treatment Plan and the OHU Transitional Living Program Plan
  • Participates in continual training and maintains certification in the implementation of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC) and all other required training
  • Supervises staff as they follow OHU Transitional Living Program Plan, including daily schedule, trauma informed care and mental health treatment of youth in TLP care
  • Demonstrates the highest investment in and commitment to quality improvement practices in order to continuously improve the delivery of services to our residents
  • Participates in a weekly Clinical Team Meeting of the TLP
  • Facilitates staff team meeting of TLP
  • Completes Behavior and Program Plans for all residents
  • Participates in all Individual Treatment Team Meetings and Reviews, Additional Staffings, Transition, and Discharge Staffings
  • Attends training, seminars, and conferences as assigned
  • Completes, in a timely and accurate fashion, all documentation required for the position
  • Completes all performance evaluations within specified time frames
  • Provides supervision to youth care staff and career/job coach as assigned in the TLP, including all documentation of supervision
  • Schedules collaboration and creation of all youth care shifts and career/job coach for TLP, managing leave and vacation and minimizing any overtime shifts
  • Responsible for an OHU credit card, coding and submitting of receipts
  • Performs on call duties as assigned
  • Treats with absolute confidence all information concerning OHU residents and programs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
