About The Position

Omega Health Services is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Transit Driver to join our team in Martinsburg, West Virginia . The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation for our patients and staff, ensuring adherence to all traffic laws and company policies.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience , preferably in a transportation or healthcare setting.
  • Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver's License with appropriate Passenger endorsement .
  • Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major violations in the past three years.
  • Physical: Ability to pass a physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the Martinsburg, WV area and surrounding Berkeley and Jefferson county roads.
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for interstate transport, if required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience driving passenger buses or similar large vehicles in a healthcare or transit environment.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and emergency roadside procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Safe Operation: Operate organization vehicles, primarily buses , in a safe and courteous manner according to a set schedule or on demand.
  • Patient and Staff Transport: Transport patients, staff, and authorized personnel to and from designated locations, including medical appointments, residential facilities, and company offices.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking fluid levels, lights, brakes, tires, and all safety equipment. Maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle. Report any maintenance needs, mechanical defects, or safety concerns immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Passenger Assistance: Assist passengers, especially those with mobility challenges or special needs , with boarding, seating, and de-boarding in a professional and patient manner. Secure wheelchairs and other assistive devices properly.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and passenger logs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations. Follow Omega Health Services safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain a current Commercial Driver's License and required endorsements.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor with all passengers and members of the public.
