About The Position

Under immediate direction, operates equipment, performs routine inspections and maintenance, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and performs a variety of other tasks that support the daily operations of the Miami County Sanitary Engineering department.

Requirements

Completion of four (4) years of high school or equivalent, supplemented by one (1) year of experience in solid waste operations or other related field that indicates skill in operation of loader, tractor-trailer rig, and related equipment, and the ability to perform routine maintenance on such equipment.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Operates loader and other Recycling and Transfer Station equipment to transfer refuse to semi-tractor-trailer for transport to disposal site.
Operates semi-tractor and other equipment to transfer solid waste to and from tipping floor or loading area.
Inspects, analyzes, and performs electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and welding maintenance and repair on all Transfer Station equipment and machinery, develops and monitors preventive maintenance schedules.
Supervises Transfer Station Operators in absence of the supervisor.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Demonstrates regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
