The HIM Transcriptionist serves as the primary contact and representative for the HIM Department in all matters concerning Transcription. With an understanding of the scope of services for the HIM Department as well as Transcription, assists the Director in accomplishing the goals pertinent to transcription of reports. Is knowledgeable in the specific functions relating to dictation and transcription. Is an expert in ability to transcribe and to understand the operation of all transcription-related equipment and programs used by the Hospital. Serves as a resource for co-workers and various department of the Hospital, especially those departments that use transcription services on a routine basis. The Lead is responsible for planning, with vendors, transcription services, physicians and their office staff, co-workers, and hospital-wide staff team members, while maintaining standards of professional service. Reports all issues to the Director promptly and is able to analyze, correct and recommend solutions to problems involving transcription. Performs administrative duties (may interview, evaluate performance, participate in employee counseling and advises Director of any employee issue) and compiles data (Performance Improvement and turnarounds) for reporting to the Director.
