Medical Transcriptionist
About The Position
Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. Customers served include staff physicians, nurses, HIM Dept., Administrative personnel, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Utilization Review, outside physicians' offices, insurance companies, lawyers and governmental agencies. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: UHS Orthopedics Norwich Primary Work Shift: Day Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: $17.19 - $24.42 per hour, depending on experience
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree; or High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of medical transcription work experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
- Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.
- Ability to operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment as specified.
Nice To Haves
- Two (2) years’ experience transcribing medical reports in an acute care setting or non-traditional work setting.
- Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) RHIT
