About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will optimize Earth-to-orbit trajectories for a range of launch vehicle configurations, including modeling the corresponding kinematic and dynamic characteristics, develop integrated design solutions and assess conceptual designs, and support trade studies on system design and architectures. Other responsibilities include documentation and maintenance of analysis inputs, models, and reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in trajectory optimization, GNC, and/or mission design
  • Strong orbital mechanics fundamentals
  • Strong flight mechanics/dynamics fundamentals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in launch, spacecraft and reentry systems
  • Experience using trajectory analysis tools such as POST, OTIS, STK Astrogator, or Copernicus.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with aerodynamic modelling, stability, or control design
  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with flight safety analysis and post-flight data analysis

Responsibilities
