About Us: The Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit organization that is working to put an end to human trafficking through comprehensive, life-changing services to survivors and a platform to advocate for groundbreaking policies and legislation. Over the past two decades, CAST has supported thousands of survivors through every phase of their journey to freedom- from counseling to legal resources to housing, educational and leadership training, and mentorship. Through these programs, CAST has worked with survivors to become leading voices in shaping policy and public awareness to ultimately put an end to human trafficking. The Training Specialist is responsible for supporting the production, presentation, coordination, and maintenance of CAST delivered trainings within Los Angeles County on the topics of minors and youth impacted by human trafficking which includes sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and forced criminality through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This training program ensures alignment with Los Angeles County's Five-Year Strategic Plan that aligns with public health principles and integrated lived experience perspectives. This position plays a key role training social workers, probation, law enforcement, mental health, public health, educators, and community-based organizations in the development and implementation of trauma-informed best practice approaches when working with youth, including but not limited to, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and resilience building strategies. Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience providing services to, or delivering training related to, survivors of human trafficking, including minors and transition-age-youth.
  • Five (5) years of experience delivering and supporting training programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficiency with Canva
  • Highly organized
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent coordination skills
  • Familiar with Zoom meetings and webinar platforms
  • Based in Los Angeles, CA
  • Ability to work from CAST office when necessary
  • Ability to ensure training attendance through follow-up and outreach
  • Familiar with adult learning models
  • Ability to maintain co nfidentiality in all spaces
  • Other tasks as designated by Training Director
  • Ability to problem solve, be proactive, own outcomes, and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on team success
  • Demonstrates empathy and strong communication skills when working with diverse team members

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall support to ensure the production of trainings
  • Conduct and compile research materials
  • Co-create training curriculums
  • Deliver training sessions in collaboration with team members
  • Attend training program team meetings, debriefs, and check-ins
  • Monitor Zoom trainings – Open trainings, monitor & respond in chat, assist trainer/s with logins, breakout rooms, close out, debrief, and provide other Zoom technical needs as necessary
  • Create and update trainings on Quickbase
  • Create and maintain training attendee reports on Excel
  • Process Certificates of Completion, CEUs, and NEUs via Quickbase
  • Run attendance and other demographic reports as needed
  • Respond to inquiries from dedicated HT training support email
  • Maintain training calendar updates
  • Create and update surveys on Survey Monkey
  • Prepare and submit housekeeping/preamble slides & survey links/QR codes to subcontractor's 2 days prior to their scheduled trainings.
  • Debrief and follow-ups with subcontractors as needed.
  • Copy and FedEx monthly documents to LA County
  • Other tasks as designated by Training Director
  • Create training announcement flyers in Canva
