About The Position

The purpose of the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) Training Specialist is to implement and manage a comprehensive education program with a concentrated focus on the Oklahoma Prescription Monitoring Program. This person will perform consultative, administrative, and advanced professional level work in order educate stakeholders. C41A - Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the training and professional development of employees in various topics or skills (in this case the PMP). This includes the preparation of lesson plans and other materials to be used in conducting training, scheduling and coordinating various workshops, classes, or seminars, conducting training in a variety of settings and/or facilitating a variety of meetings or seminars. This PMP Educator position has been awarded funding through a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant.

Requirements

  • Technical work experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual learning.
  • Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the bachelor’s degree. The qualifying experience must include conducting public workshops/trainings/classes, adult education, law enforcement training or public health community outreach.
  • If applying on experience consistent of a Bachelor’s degree, applicant must also have experience conducting public workshops/trainings/classes
  • Knowledge of public speaking, coordinating schedules, communicating missions, and development of presentations.
  • The ability to write materials, travel to locations and compile facts and research to support presentations.
  • Candidate must also be able to organize events such as conferences and booth opportunities and must be able to supervise, provide feedback and directions.
  • He or she must be able to critically correct and guide audience to meet the program’s objectives.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team
  • Possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting workshops to a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively outreach stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, occasionally
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of state statutes, rules, and policies regarding the reporting of controlled drugs
  • Knowledge of updating social media and website postings

Responsibilities

  • Providing education and training on using the PMP system
  • Create podcasts on a variety of topics related to OBN and the PMP
  • Create and maintain training videos for on-demand continuing education
  • Attend seminars, conferences, and training workshops to provide training to attendees – moderate travel within the state and once yearly national conference
  • Create and maintain user guides and other material to support OBN education
  • Build partnerships with registrants, boards, state agencies, and private/public organizations
  • Research and prepare newsletters, social media posts, and information for the OBN website
  • Help maintain social media presence
  • Prepare surveys and promotional material to increase utilization of the PMP system
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and research gaps or trends for training needs
