In the last decade, the Forensic Anthropology Center (FAC) has provided professional training to over 2,000 external partners including law enforcement agents, medico legal personnel, international experts, and college students. The Training and Outreach Coordinator will organize approximately 12-15 training courses annually that vary in content and delivery format based on specific training needs. Courses may include lectures, hands-on laboratory exercises, and/or human remains recovery depending upon the agency needs. The position includes assisting the FAC in body donor management as related to training needs. In addition to professional training, the FAC has a robust outreach program focused on age-appropriate school groups and general public groups that relays information about forensic anthropology, the FAC, and the University of Tennessee. Presentations typically highlight the contributions of the FAC to forensic anthropology, FAC research, and our body donation program. This position is responsible for building relationships with community organizations, coordinating events, managing personnel, and overseeing the FAC’s social media presence. The FAC Training and Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in expanding awareness, engagement, and participation in our programs and the mission of the FAC.
