About The Position

The Training & Organizational Development Intern will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of employee training and development initiatives. This unpaid internship is designed for college students who are seeking academic credit and hands-on experience in training, organizational development, and/or human resources within a local government setting. The intern will work closely with the [Organization Development / HR] team to assist with learning programs, workshops, onboarding support, and special projects that enhance the employee experience.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in: Human Resources, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Education, Psychology, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Eligible to receive academic credit for the internship through their institution (student is responsible for coordinating with their school).
  • Strong interest in training, facilitation, adult learning, or organizational development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and willing to learn new tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing, updating, and organizing training materials (PowerPoints, handouts, facilitator guides, sign-in sheets, evaluations, etc.).
  • Support coordination of training events, including scheduling, registration, room setup, technology checks, materials preparation, and follow-up.
  • Help maintain training records, attendance logs, and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Assist with New Employee Experience (NEE) and other orientation/onboarding activities.
  • Help develop communication pieces (emails, flyers, intranet posts) to promote training programs.
  • Conduct basic research on best practices in training, leadership development, and employee engagement.
  • Support special projects (e.g., surveys, evaluations, data entry, summary reports) related to employee development and organizational initiatives.
  • Provide general administrative support to the [Organization Development / HR] team as needed.
