About The Position

FMI is seeking an experienced and creative Workforce Development Manager to join our team. As the Workforce Development Manager, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating employee training programs and organizational learning strategies to enhance and support employee performance and growth. You will ensure training needs are met, select materials that align with required teaching methodologies, manage training budgets, and ensure training aligns with strategic business goals. Routine responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and administering training and development programs while creatively designing effective methods to educate, enhance, and meet company goals. Being the Workforce Development Manager means you will act as a key liaison and advisor to leadership, facilitating strategic initiatives and identifying suitable training solutions across the entire organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Training and Development, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with a focus on training and development
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience successfully designing and implementing employee development and training programs
  • 2+ years of management experience leading teams or departmental initiatives
  • Proven ability and track record in assessing company-wide needs and translating them into effective training solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience developing hands-on, competency-based training programs
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Windows Suite products

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential
  • Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM) credential
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential(s)
  • Certified Program Management Professional (PMP) credential
  • Prior experience working within defense/aerospace industry
  • Prior experience implementing and executing Learning Management Systems
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and concepts
  • Familiarity with LEAN concepts

Responsibilities

  • Assess workforce training needs across manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, quality, and support functions
  • Develop and implement training programs for job skills, technical certifications, cross-training, and leadership development
  • Align training initiatives with production goals, new equipment rollouts, process improvements, and engineering changes
  • Coordinate and deliver training related to manufacturing processes, equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Partner with engineering and technical subject matter experts to develop training for new technologies, systems, and process changes
  • Direct annual company-wide needs assessments to identify performance gaps and determine training requirements that align with organizational goals
  • Consult with leadership as a strategic advisor on performance, organizational, and leadership matters to enhance overall company effectiveness
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs, learning activities, and instructional materials using a variety of media, audio-visual tools,
  • Identify and incorporate industry best practices and lessons learned into all program plans and curriculum development
  • Lead, coach, or support trainers, mentors, and on-the-job training facilitators
  • Manage training delivery methods including classroom, hands-on shop floor training, e-learning, and blended learning approaches
  • Conduct follow-up studies and reviews evaluations to measure training effectiveness and impact on employee accomplishments
  • Modify and updates programs based on evaluation results to ensure continuous improvement of learning objectives
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate development events, including the coordination of logistics, supplies, and instructor guides
  • Manage and administer the departmental training budget, ensuring effective spending against established financial goals
