About The Position

As member of the Black & Veatch HR Talent Development team, you will partner with Black & Veatch employee owners to:   Assist the Talent Development team in coordinating training spaces (50%). This includes: assessing space needs and reserving the space, assuring access to necessary equipment, audio / video equipment setup, coordinating with other BV departments, and assisting with technical or audio/video issues arising during space utilization. Assist the Talent Development Instructional Design team to conduct stakeholder analysis for video production and instructional design projects (50%). This includes: contributing ideas to video or instructional design projects; filming, or supporting the filming of, video segments; assisting with video editing and production; assisting with instructional design content generation; and coordinating with stakeholders on final product delivery. You will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with many Black & Veatch leaders and colleagues, use state-of-the-art video and learning content production software and equipment, and mentor with / learn from the Black & Veatch experts on the Talent Development and Creative teams. If you are tech savvy, have good creative problem-solving skills, a strong understanding of audio and video equipment, an eagerness to learn new skills, and experience creating video or instructional design assets, then this opportunity may be for you.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following:
  • criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or experience working with commercial audio and video equipment, including sound boards, microphones, speakers, etc.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail. Effective at balancing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and business leaders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern design aesthetic and an ability to follow a style guide.
  • Potential travel (<10%) as needed for video capture or learning opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain OSHA 10 safety credential for travel to BV construction sites.
  • Knowledge of video editing software, storytelling, and video theory.
  • Experience developing training videos and multimedia presentations.
  • Experience with still photography of people, places, and buildings.
  • Familiarity with commercial construction industry and sustainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated skills using video editing software (Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
  • Experience using the Microsoft Suite of applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide five-day-per-week, in-person, administrative technical support coverage for the co/lab space. (NOTE: Excludes holidays, sick or vacation leave, and other necessary conflicts. Supplemental or substitute technical support coverage can be arranged as needed to accommodate Black & Veatch project needs or outside personal commitments.)
  • Work with the co/lab team and reservation holders to determine use cases and needs from the co/lab space to achieve their desired outcomes.
  • Setup audio / visual equipment in preparation for planned co/lab events. Assist in troubleshooting technical audio / video equipment issues within the co/lab learning spaces during live events.
  • Report damage or defects to co/lab equipment and supplies. Coordinate the usage and lending of co/lab equipment.
  • Consult and collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Talent Development, the BV Creative Team, and others, to support the planning and development of video, photographic, and instructional design assets.
  • Participate in intake meetings with internal clients; contribute to the writing and editing of video scripts and instructional design modules.
  • Support the Talent Development and BV Creative Teams in planning, development, and delivery of video projects for a wide variety of Black & Veatch departments and stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Talent Development team to learn Black & Veatch best practices and accommodate existing Black & Veatch processes and procedures.
  • Accept feedback to continuously improve and update our space, processes, and methodologies along with your personal skills and capabilities
