About The Position

LAMS is hiring a Training Coordinator to join their team. This position will train researchers and LAMS husbandry and veterinary technicians with hands-on rodent handling and techniques, peri-operative care training, and species-specific training for large animals including rabbits and pigs. This position will serve as a backup for facility orientation and new employee training. This person will also develop and expand the training program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement
  • One (1) year of professional work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public speaking/teaching.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and ability to learn new software platforms (i.e., Huron).
  • Additional veterinary certifications (RVT, LVT, or an AALAS certification of a LAT or above).
  • Experience in training rodent surgical techniques.
  • Rodent specific handling or experience working with rabbits and/or pigs in a clinical or research setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform animal handling techniques, preferably in clinical situations.
  • Provide training for treatment administration or sample collections.
  • Schedule training events and workshops, coordinate with instructors, obtain and distribute required instructional materials, and communicate schedules and details.
  • Communicate with University of Cincinnati employees, trainers from external organizations, professional training group members, and consultants via phone, correspondence, or in person.
  • Process enrollments and answer routine inquiries regarding courses, schedules, and locations.
  • Oversee room reservation process and maintenance of physical space and materials, which may include coordinating technical support, unlocking and locking training rooms, and tracking technical equipment.
  • May utilize HR information system and/or database to enter data and produce reports on training statistics, inventory levels or assessments of the programs or instructors.
  • Participate in special projects related to Training and Development and/or Human Resources Serve on appropriate HR and university committees.
