About The Position

Manages training activities and instructors for Fire Rescue personnel assigned to the training division. Coordinates training schedules through the Division Chief - Training and appropriate operational officers. Maintains records of all training certifications.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7 years of service or greater at Hall County Fire Rescue
  • National Registry Paramedic
  • Or, any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, as listed.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • NPQ Firefighter 2
  • Defensive driving
  • Fire Officer I
  • Fire Instructor I
  • Fire Instructor II within 2 years of accepting position
  • Blue Card
  • Blue Card instructor within 2 years of accepting position
  • EMT Certification (AEMT or higher)
  • Valid class F Driver’s License
  • CPR / BLS provider certification
  • ACLS Certification (if Paramedic)
  • PALS Certification (if Paramedic)
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods related to fire training and safety.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for certification in all firefighter classifications.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures related to emergency medical training.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for certification of all EMS classifications.
  • Knowledge of special operations teams and functions.
  • Knowledge of record keeping practices.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and the ability to develop programs to suit the needs of the department.
  • Ability to develop and manage training programs.
  • Ability to develop assignments, certifications, and courses in EPR Fireworks LMS.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and mentor training officers/instructors.
  • Ability to perform an accurate inventory.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all departmental personnel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, guests, visitors and from other departments.
  • Ability to work within a team, as a contributing team member in a small but dynamic departmental division

Responsibilities

  • Exercises general supervision of the training officers/instructors assigned to the training division.
  • Establishes and maintains training objectives for all personnel as outlined by the Division Chief - Training. Recommends, develops, and implements training of personnel to assure adherence to outside regulatory agencies’ standards.
  • Monitors and coordinates continuing education for fire training in compliance with the State of Georgia and ISO requirements. Assures all certified employees meet state requirements for recertification.
  • Assists with EMS recertification and training as needed.
  • Reviews, updates, and posts training records for department personnel.
  • Coordinates training schools and classes as deemed appropriate by the Division Chief - Training.
  • Assists the Division Chief - Training in preparing annual budget requests.
  • Works closely with assigned members to ensure a quality recruit training academy is consistent with nationally accepted standards including NFPA and ISO
  • Stay up to date on fire service trends and best practices.
  • Assists with budgeting, planning, and management of the daily operations as well as the long-term strategic planning of assigned special operations teams.
  • Serves as the department representative; attends and participates in meetings with other county departments, government agencies, or external customers to plan and coordinate special operations responses.
  • Perform other related duties as required related to the training division.
  • Operates within the rules and regulations of the department including Human Resources guidelines.
  • Operate as necessary to assist in disaster events, potentially staffing the Emergency Operations Center.
  • Plan and execute inter-departmental activities for disaster training, to include local, state or federal agencies.
  • May fill in for the Division Chief - Training in their absence.
  • Performs other relevant work as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
