About The Position

Assist in the review and analysis of data for uterine fibroids, maternal and child health, reproductive health, adolescent health, and the Florida Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), in addition to other health related data and information that impact policy and program development, including the compilation of related data-based and informed reports, fact sheets, white papers, databases, dashboards, and other products in a timely and accurate manner for distribution to internal and external customers, as needed and/or requested. Perform research, data analysis, and evaluation using various statistical and data managing software packages, such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, SQL, and MS Access to collect and analyze data pertaining to uterine fibroids, maternal and child health, and various the other Bureau of Family Health Services programs and projects identified above, as well as other health related issues. This includes maintaining knowledge of relevant data sets and availability, data tools/software and trends. Initiate and carry out statistical analysis, including formative and summative evaluations of uterine fibroids, maternal and child health, and various other programs and activities within the Bureau of Family Health Services, along with other health related data and activities, in addition to providing an ongoing assessment of data capacity and quality related to linkages, access and use of key and relevant data sets. Provide research and statistical analysis support, training, and technical assistance to programs within the Bureau of Family Health Services, including interpreting data and communicating same to Bureau and Division of Community Health Promotion staff, local Departments of Health, and external partners. Conduct epidemiologic research to identify determinants and risk factors for uterine fibroids, maternal and child health, and other health related outcomes in Florida. Perform related work, as required.

Requirements

  • At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience designing, conducting, and evaluating epidemiologic studies.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience creating and maintaining databases, performing data analysis and visualization, and scientific report writing.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience using Microsoft Excel and Stata, SAS, SPSS, R, and/or SQL.
  • Can supplement equivalent years of experience with a degree in Public Health or related field (e.g., Epidemiology, Sociology, Health Administration, Biostatistics, Health Science, Community Health Education) on a year-by-year basis.
  • Must be willing to physically come into the office to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
