About The Position

The Optometric Systems Trainer at AEG Vision is responsible for conducting professional training events on Point of sale and electronic health records systems for our new acquisitions employees, both in-person and through web-based platforms. This role requires strong people skills, high-level facilitation abilities for groups of varying sizes, and expertise in system administration. Additionally, the position involves creating and updating training documentation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance training offerings, and developing and implementing policies for optometric software. Extensive travel within the US (up to 80%) is required, with hours varying based on practice needs and availability across all time zones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant work experience may substitute
  • 3+ years of optometric industry experience, including clinical and retail settings
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience
  • Experience in training or developing others
  • Advanced experience conducting training for vision/optometry-focused POS and EHR systems such as Acuity Logic Enterprise (ALE) and Eyefinity EHR for various sized groups
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 80%

Nice To Haves

  • Optometric certifications (COA, COT, licensed optician) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate professional in-person and web-based training events on POS and EHR systems
  • Create and update training documentation, including manuals, diagrams, and PowerPoints
  • Assist with the administration of training events and management of course offerings
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance training programs and product demonstrations
  • Become an expert in assigned software applications, staying updated on features and versions
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for system administration
  • Research and document software issues and bugs for resolution
  • Interact with employees to troubleshoot and resolve system inquiries
  • Serve as a liaison between practices and IT teams for issue resolution and software enhancement suggestions
  • Enforce policies for the use and implementation of optometric software
  • Ability to travel up to 80%
