About The Position

At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners – from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training. This trainee role is based in School Infrastructure, which delivers new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW. This is an exciting opportunity for recent school leavers to start their career with School Infrastructure while completing a Certificate IV in Project Management Practice or Business through TAFE NSW. You will be supported through a structured program that includes on-the-job learning, mentoring and professional development, and you will have the opportunity to develop practical workplace skills in a supportive team environment. This role supports the First Nations Engagement in School Infrastructure (FNESI) program, which focuses on creating meaningful employment opportunities for First Nations people and businesses within Facilities Maintenance Contract, particularly through local and regional contractors located on the traditional area/s of their tribal group (also known as ‘on Country’). As a trainee, you will work four days per week within School Infrastructure and have one day of paid study leave each week to attend TAFE NSW.
