We are currently hiring for the position of Trailer Repair Mechanic. This role is essential to the daily operations of our terminal and is responsible for repairing containers, trailers, and chassis. The Trailer Repair Mechanic will also perform repair and replacement work that includes but is not limited to, containers, lights, tires, landing legs, brakes, and framework.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 1-year of mechanical experience
  • Trailer Mechanic must have basic set of hand tools
  • Must comply with established safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
  • Physical strength to lift heavy parts and components
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Dexterity for precise work on small parts
  • Frequent standing, walking, balancing while walking on elevated catwalks, bending, and grasping.
  • Must be able to fit through a tank trailer manhole
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • The ability to diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, electrical, or other various systems on various trailer types (e.g., flatbed, reefer, dry van)
  • Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting trailer issues
  • Suspension repair
  • Tank service and repair
  • Knowledge of air brake systems and repairs
  • Conducts routine/scheduled maintenance on railroad leased/owned containers and chassis
  • Repairs equipment in accordance with railroad, IEP, manufacturer & FMCSA guidelines
  • Documents repairs according to an established reporting system, verbally and in writing
  • Repairs tires, brakes, lights, landing leg and framework
  • Skillful use of hand tools and power tools
  • Understanding proper safety procedures when working on trailers
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations related to trailer maintenance
