About The Position

This class performs skilled technical duties in area of specialty and on specific projects, performing under the general supervision of an Engineering Specialist. This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Serves as a signal maintenance and operations field representative, by prioritizing assigned work, reporting to supervisor, utility locates, and/or performing other related activities Participates in maintaining an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) within the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) domain Participates in implementing in-field signal timing Troubleshoots, maintains, and oversees County-wide signal system Conducts preventative maintenance on traffic signals and participates in designing traffic control signs, markings, and related items for in-house use Performs field inspections of electrical work in all traffic signals controllers and appurtenances Inspects and verifies proper traffic signal operation, including investigating complaints regarding traffic signals Monitors the Traffic Management Center Workstation Produce reports for Florida Department of Transportation, Traffic Division, and other requests Assists in the maintenance of a preventative maintenance program, signal inventory list, inspection log and detailed records to traffic signals including signal timing records and signal maintenance contractors Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and at least six months of specialized or technical training beyond high school in signals or similar position and one year of experience in signal maintenance, operation, utility locate, construction inspection and/or general construction or signalization; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence

Responsibilities
