Under general supervision, the Traffic Signal Maintenance Technician performs skilled electrical and electronic work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal and streetlight systems. This journey-level position is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing signal components and wiring, assisting with system upgrades, and supporting the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of traffic control infrastructure throughout the City. Employees independently diagnose and resolve a wide range of electrical and communication system issues, applying technical proficiency, safety awareness, and adherence to electrical codes. The role may include providing guidance or training to less experienced staff and participating in after-hours emergency response as needed.
