The Traffic Signal Installer will be responsible for installation of signal equipment to include trench, conduit, various concrete foundations, pulling of signal cable and building and erection of mast poles and arms as well as span intersections (temporary and permanent installations). Work is performed outdoors at construction sites, maintenance facilities, and outside environments with exposure to inclement weather. Moderate physical demands: strength sufficient to lift and move items weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds. This position may require repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing beside/unto/under a variety of equipment. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned. This position requires basic understanding of installation of traffic signals conforming to VDOT specs and standards, ability to operate bucket truck and working on live intersections while maintaining traffic flow. 18 years of age or older; This position is considered an essential position which could require the individual to report to work during inclement weather conditions, with various work hours.
