About The Position

Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our team at the Gateway Guide Traffic Management Center. This is an excellent opportunity to launch a rewarding career in the growing field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). As a TMC Operator, you’ll play a critical role in keeping Missouri’s roadways safe and efficient by monitoring traffic conditions, coordinating incident response, and delivering timely information to the public.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Windows-based systems and comfort working on a multi-monitor workstation
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of St. Louis-area roadways and geography
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to real-time events with urgency and accuracy
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work holidays and weekends as part of a 24/7/365 operation
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
  • High School diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or related work experience in transportation, public safety, dispatch, or customer service preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate ITS technologies including cameras, sensors, and information systems to monitor traffic conditions
  • Identify and track incidents and roadway issues using CCTV, patrol and police reports, and other data sources
  • Coordinate and dispatch responses to roadway incidents via radio, phone, or internal systems
  • Input and manage data in real-time systems, maintaining accurate records of incidents and response actions
  • Assist with compiling traffic and incident data for reports including travel time, incident summaries, and equipment status
  • Provide traveler information to the public through variable message signs, websites, and partner agencies
  • Work collaboratively with teammates, first responders, and other stakeholders to manage daily operations
