About The Position

Join Serco as a Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Coordinator in Austin, Texas. Serco supports the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in their initiative to improve the operations of the TMC and improve coordination with partners in responding to incidents on the roads. We achieve this goal with an experienced and highly trained team of TMC Operators, Supervisors and management personnel. Serco is looking for a skilled individual to be a TMC TIM Coordinator for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Austin District Traffic Management Center (TMC). Traffic Incident Management (TIM) consists of a planned and coordinated multi-disciplinary process to detect, respond to, and clear traffic incidents so that traffic flow may be restored as safely and quickly as possible. Effective TIM reduces the duration and impacts of traffic incidents and improves the safety of motorists, crash victims and emergency responders. As a TIM Coordinator you can expect to: Support the TxDOT Statewide TIM program Oversee, coordinate and develop procedures for implementing, administering and evaluating TIM plans or programs Collect, organize, and analyze data required in TIM related plans, programs, budgets, and information systems Conduct analysis, select at least one incident and prepare materials for AIM HIGH meetings Facilitate the AIM High/TIM meeting using effective communications methods; contributing to and guiding the group in defining objectives, staying on task and reaching consensus; soliciting participation, challenging ideas and summarizing accomplishments and planned actions (monthly or bi-monthly depending on meeting cadence) Develop a customized training plan and schedule to train and mentor TIM stakeholders Develop training courses and materials Establish plans and set objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results, anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks Interact with external partners and other agencies with professionalism Be responsible for TIM related record keeping and records management

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in the last seven years of training and development responsibilities
  • Traffic Management Operations and or First Responder experience
  • Knowledge of TIM practices and guidelines; Principles, theories, and practices of Emergency Management
  • Successfully completed TxDOT training provided upon hire.
  • Ability to problem solve in high pressure situations
  • Excellent customer service skills: manage teams to ensure quality customer service output
  • Ability to use English language writing skills necessary to perform clear and concise record keeping, logging of required information, equipment checks, data gathering, and updating of manuals and contact lists that include all pertinent information without spelling or grammatical errors.
