Our Traffic Engineering & Advanced Mobility (TEAM) Business Unit focuses on the planning, design, and operations of our surface transportation facilities to improve safety, accessibility, and mobility for all users. Our projects leverage advanced tools, real-time traffic data, and diverse technologies to deliver innovative solutions for a broad range of clients, including Municipalities, Counties, and State Departments of Transportation. Our group has consistently exceeded strategic growth initiatives, creating new opportunities for both current and prospective team members. As a result, we are seeking a highly motivated Traffic Engineer to grow our TEAM in Charleston, WV.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 0-2 years of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • BS Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • A passion for developing innovative solutions that improve our transportation systems
  • EIT / FE Exam
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience
  • Traffic analysis software experience (Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS)
  • Familiar with TSMO strategies
  • Previous transportation related internship(s)
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong capability in writing technical reports and memos
  • A valid driver's license with a positive driving record

Responsibilities

  • Performing multimodal traffic safety and operational studies (e.g., safety audits, signal timing optimization, work zone transportation management plans).
  • Performing field observations and collecting traffic data
  • Planning and design for traffic control devices (i.e., signals, signing, and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, roadway lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS))
  • Supporting ITS and TSMO planning and design projects that aim to actively manage traffic using ITS field devices and central transportation management center
  • Interacting with clients at project meetings and building strong relationships
  • Writing technical reports and memos
