About The Position

HDR's Traffic Engineer will: provide engineering, design, and production support for traffic engineering projects; work closely with Senior Project Engineers/Project Managers to prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic control plans for various state and local agencies; support Project Engineers in development of traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, Interchange Access Justification Reports, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling; write reports and technical memorandums; serve as a project manager or task leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, data analytics, project development, and community planning activities, when needed; work closely with the Traffic Operations Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; and support and advise junior engineers and technical staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 6 months of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Required experience may include professional or internship experience and must include experience in: traffic impact analysis; traffic signal analysis and design; Synchro; VISSIM; SignCAD; OpenRoads; and MicroStation.
  • Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
  • NOTE: All HDR positions in the US may be subject to background checks and/or pre-employment drug testing.
