Manages engineering projects, which includes providing professional/technical engineering, engineering design and review, writing standards, survey work, and inspections. Completes and oversees a variety of assignments in one or more specialized areas of transportation systems and programs involving research, planning, design, technology, materials, construction, traffic safety, traffic operations and maintenance. Perform work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or a senior level professional. These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Prepare and approve designs for Public Services/Engineering projects in accordance with general engineering principles and City standards. Conduct construction inspections, review and approve contractor pay requests, review and process construction change orders. Manage the maintenance of traffic control devices through subordinates. Conduct traffic studies to determine the safety and appropriateness of traffic control devices on the roadway and at intersections. Investigate traffic problems and recommend methods to improve traffic flow and safety. Use technology to monitor traffic flow and conditions. Maintains high ethical standards and professionalism. Provides transparent visual reports of design and construction transportation projects within the City of Atlanta. May perform other duties as assigned.
