About The Position

RS&H is currently seeking an experienced traffic engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will have a proven track record leading and performing diverse and complex work in the areas of traffic engineering. This position will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule of in-office and remote. As a technical expert you will have a key role in project work, while also cultivating relationships with existing and new clients. You will work to achieve our goals of a profitable operation and a supportive and inclusive work environment. The ideal candidate has traffic engineering expertise including: Capacity and Microsimulation Analysis Safety Studies and Crash Predictive Analysis Traffic Volume Development and Forecasting Traffic Studies

Requirements

  • ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • PE License
  • Minimum 7 years of traffic engineering experience including proven technical leadership (decision-making on technical matters).
  • Proficient in production and traffic software including HCS, Synchro, Sidra, TransModeler, and MicroStation.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and can effectively interact and build strong relationships with team members, clients, and other key stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader delivering traffic engineering services for NCDOT, SCDOT, City of Charlotte, and other local clients.
  • Actively manage projects and discipline specific tasks including performing project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget, and quality management).
  • Administer quality management plans and perform thorough, detailed reviews of project deliverables.
  • Assist in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
  • People development including supervising and/or mentoring junior engineering associates.
