About The Position

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Traffic Control Technician to join their team in Houston, Texas. This role involves performing traffic closures by setting up delineating devices such as traffic barrels, vertical panels, and chevrons, and towing trailers like DMS’s and arrow boards in highway traffic.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) strongly preferred
• Must maintain driver’s license in good standing as verified by TransCore
• Knowledge of the TMUTCD book
• Willingness and ability to work varied schedules day or night
• Required to wear all safety PPE as defined by TransCore Safety Manager
• Must follow safe work practice
• Ability to work in high and low speed environments
• Subject to on-call schedule

Nice To Haves

• Prior lane closure experience preferred but not required
• CDL a plus

Responsibilities

• Work as part of construction team to divert traffic from the work area
• Accurately layout a traffic management scheme in accordance with basic rules, from a generic traffic control diagram
• Set up cones, barrels, signs, temporary barricades and other traffic control and safety devices; as well as the loading & unloading of these devices
• Check work zone throughout shift to be sure items are still in their proper location
• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site
