The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031. The Traffic Control Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing project-specific Traffic Control Plans and Maintenance of Traffic strategies that comply with GDOT, MUTCD, AASHTO, and local standards while ensuring safe, efficient traffic flow throughout all construction phases. This role includes preparing detour and lane closure plans, performing traffic analyses, coordinating with agencies and stakeholders, and securing necessary permits. The engineer will conduct field inspections, supervise traffic control crews, manage lane closures and detours, and maintain accurate documentation of all traffic control activities. Additional responsibilities include overseeing traffic control equipment inventory, preparing cost estimates, providing technical guidance to project teams, training personnel on safety procedures, and recommending improvements based on emerging traffic management technologies and best practices.
