About The Position

The Traditional Healing Senior Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of the Traditional Healing grant activities and supporting the development of a sustainable cultural healing program at NACC. Key activities include planning cultural trainings, ceremonies and activities within the urban Native American (NA) community. Building collaboration within and across NACC departments, as well as external programs, agencies, and key stakeholders that are serving the NA community. This position will work closely with the Traditional Healing Department and Elders Council to successfully implement cultural healing programming.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
At least one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Minnesota driver’s license and insurance.
Obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid or other needed certifications when requested.
Computer skills required: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); Presentation software (PowerPoint); and general knowledge.
General understanding of community organizing
Two years of experience providing direct services.
Previous experience working with Native Americans or other marginalized communities.
Familiar with local resources for chemical, mental, and physical health.
Works well independently and on a team.
Excellent communication, customer service, and case management skills.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of ceremony, cultural teachings, traditional medicines and community engagement preferred.
Knowledge of bead/quill work, sewing or other traditional craft knowledge that can be taught in group settings preferred.
Leadership experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Identify and coordinate resources to support culturally appropriate programming within the clinic across departments.
Implore NA values and community needs to plan effective cultural healing activities and workshops.
Establish partnerships and agreements with cultural advisors and elders that offer ceremonies and workshops. Complete paperwork needed for contracting services.
Coordinate workshops/events/groups that provide opportunities for cultural and traditional knowledge, skills, abilities and wisdom to be shared.
Purchase materials that are needed for cultural activities planned and track grant budgets.
Ability to host weekly groups in different departments such as IOP, MAT and/or Behavioral Health
Create pre/post surveys for workshops. Upload pictures, write ups and data to the Traditional Healing Report for grant reporting.
Work collaboratively with community partners to support engagement in cultural activities.
Facilitate and coordinate traditional activities and ceremonies that support cultural reclamation, identity formation, and family (re)unification, prevention and resilience. Services may include prevention, intervention and/or post-vention. Ceremonies include, but are not limited to, Cedar and Full Moon ceremony
Plan quarterly meetings to consult and engage Elders Council
Develop resources such as brochures, calendars or booklets around traditional healing
Conduct inventory of traditional medicines and supplies and complete purchase orders for grants
Oversee the use and maintenance of traditional medicines in clinic spaces
Maintain tracking and coordination of events, groups and activities provided by the traditional healing department.
Market and publicize scheduled ceremonies and events that will be offered to patients and community members.
Oversees scheduling of volunteers and interns as necessary
Performs other related duties as assigned.
