About The Position

EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Trade Supervisor at Stanford Healthcare Center in the East Bay Region Livermore CA, Responsible for operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of building related mechanical, electrical, control systems, plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion joints, and other building mechanical systems. Work involves the lifting of heavy mechanical equipment apparatus and may be performed in areas of extreme heat or cold. Receives and responds to service calls, takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns. The Engineering Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations on all electrical projects across the portfolio as well as coach any apprentice electrician.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the operation of central building equipment, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and/or electronic systems. Experience & proven ability to repair building electrical, plumbing, & HVAC auxiliary systems.
  • Valid driver's license. Specific license requirements listed in Service Level Agreement.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.
  • Basic mathematical abilities in all units of measure. Read blueprints and technical schematics as well as specification manuals.
  • Experience & proven ability to safely secure hydronic and electrical systems for maintenance.
  • Experience & proven ability to Braze/Solder copper pie, thread black pipe. Basic carpentry skills.
  • Strong knowledge of operation of building auxiliary systems i.e. fire-life safety, stand by emergency generators, UPS Systems.
  • Familiarity of general building systems i.e. vertical lift equipment, overhead doors. Ability to write, execute written and oral instructions and perform arithmetic calculations. Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects and perform other physically demanding tasks Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools.
  • Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the performance of preventive maintenance of all equipment.
  • Supervise and assist with the maintenance of site equipment and building structure.
  • Document and institute corrective actions for any deficiencies found.
  • Monitor subcontractors in their tasks and provide reports as appropriate.
  • Operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all related mechanical, electrical, control systems, air handling units, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and expansion joints.
  • Requisition necessary material to complete required repairs.
  • Oversee the routine and preventive maintenance duties including filter changes, belts, lubrication, control and performance check of building systems and equipment.
  • Oversee inspections of mechanical, electrical systems, trace electrical circuits, operate switchgear, record inspections, and write reports to Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Perform any additional duties on an as “required” basis where such duties are within the scope of contractual obligations.
  • Manages and schedules weekly safety toolbox meeting/training.
  • Conducts performance evaluations of staff at required intervals; manages disciplinary action per human resource guidelines; makes hiring and firing recommendations to the Assistant Chief Engineer. keeps Assistant Chief Engineer abreast of personnel issues.
  • Holds staff meetings/huddles at consistent intervals to support Assistant Chief Engineer with implementation of hospital practices and policies.
  • Complete documentation, including but not limited to, timesheets, expense reports, service reports, purchase card logs, PM records, safety training, group meetings and maintaining tools and vehicle.
